It can be used prophylactically to help prevent sports injuries; for example it is commonly used in ankle strapping to prevent ankle sprains or support weak ankles, or more commonly to provide support and compression for on field injuries.

As with the other tearable EAB's, its most common uses is for line out lifting in rugby, and it can be commonly seen wrapped around the thighs of line out jumpers on the rugby field.
